Is half French, half Puerto Rican. Pursued a career in acting after performing in a high-school production of The Grapes of Wrath . (She overcame stage fright during her work on the production; she also battles claustrophobia.) Was signed by an agent in 2000 after being a finalist in MTV's Wanna Be a VJ contest.
